The imminent departure of our lovable Togolese has caused much discussion on many of the Gooner blogs across the net. I have read with interest the articles and comments regarding Arsene’s plans post Adebayor and whether we actually need to replace him. I can understand those who feel we don’t, with 4-5-1 formations mooted and the likes of Arshavin taking up a more forward role. But I have had a think and come up with reasons why I think it’s a safe football bet that we DO need to get a replacement in. For the sake of Gooner blogosphere discussion, here they are.

Jimmy Hill is widely regarded as a football legend, either for his abilities on the field, his work for the profession behind the scenes or his sometimes comedy comments as a TV pundit. But another thing he is famous for is the abolishing of the maximum wage in 1961. Back then it was just £20, with Johnny Haynes the first to benefit from the abolition, becoming the world’s first £100 player.

Thank goodness for the U21 Championships. With no World Cup or Euros, June can be a frustrating month, for starters nearly all the players and managers are on holiday so any transfer rumours are completely made up by the media, who lead you on with sensationalist headlines only to let you down when it turns out they have no concrete evidence for their stories.
