Winless in four games and having tasted defeat in the last two, it is fair to say that Arsenal are going through somewhat of a slump. The Gunners were last victorious in a 4-2 win over Bolton the best party of a month ago, and since then were turfed out of the FA Cup before drawing at Aston Villa and then being trounced by Manchester United and Chelsea. Now nine points off top with thirteen games remaining, it is fair to say that Arsene Wenger’s men have not needed a win as desperately as they do tonight.

Stamford Bridge is the venue for today’s encounter as Arsenal face bitter rivals Chelsea in arguably the Gunners’ most crucial match of the season. A loss for Wenger’s men today will effectively destroy their chances of Premiership glory this season, having been convincingly undone by Manchester United last weekend and subsequently left seven points adrift of top spot.

Arsenal’s biggest match of the season so far takes place today as the Gunners host Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium. Both sides are looking to displace front runners Chelsea, with United and Arsenal four and five points behind the Blues, respectively. A loss for either side today will severely dent their title chances, while a win will put the victor clear into second spot.  Aside from that, though, is the intense rivalry these sides have held. The matches between United and Arsenal during the time of Vieira, Henry, Keane and Beckham were the stuff of legend.

Arsenal play their first of five extremely difficult matches in succession this evening when they travel north to face Aston Villa. The Gunners’ list of opponents for the next month is astonishing, with the period between now and the end of Arsenal’s match against Liverpool on February tenth likely to make or break their season. Starting with Villa today, the Gunners will face United at home on Sunday, Chelsea away a week later, Liverpool on February ten before facing a tricky European tie away to Porto the following Wendnesday.

Arsenal are involved in one of three all Premier League ties today as they face Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium in the FA Cup. The FA Cup is a competition in which Arsenal have enjoyed great success over the years. The Gunners were first victorious in the prestigious cup competition in 1930, and have added a further nine titles since then. Current boss Arsene Wenger has been in the hot seat for four of Arsenal’s ten FA Cup victories, and will undoubtedly be striving to continue his fine record in the tournament when his side visit Stoke today.

Arsene Wenger’s men face Bolton Wanderers for the second time in four days as they attempt to close the gap on rivals Manchester United and Chelsea. Arsenal toppled the Trotters on Sunday at The Reebok, and now face the easier task of playing Bolton on home turf. The Gunners ran out 2-0 victors on the weekend, and a repeat of that result this evening will send the Gunners to the top of the table, ahead of Manchester United on points and Chelsea on goals scored, however the Blues will have a game in hand.
