Arsenal are involved in one of three all Premier League ties today as they face Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium in the FA Cup. The FA Cup is a competition in which Arsenal have enjoyed great success over the years. The Gunners were first victorious in the prestigious cup competition in 1930, and have added a further nine titles since then. Current boss Arsene Wenger has been in the hot seat for four of Arsenal’s ten FA Cup victories, and will undoubtedly be striving to continue his fine record in the tournament when his side visit Stoke today.

Arsene Wenger’s men face Bolton Wanderers for the second time in four days as they attempt to close the gap on rivals Manchester United and Chelsea. Arsenal toppled the Trotters on Sunday at The Reebok, and now face the easier task of playing Bolton on home turf. The Gunners ran out 2-0 victors on the weekend, and a repeat of that result this evening will send the Gunners to the top of the table, ahead of Manchester United on points and Chelsea on goals scored, however the Blues will have a game in hand.

First off I’d like to apologise for my lack of activity in the past week, having been been heavily bogged down by work and family commitments. During my short absence, Arsene Wenger has managed to secure the signatures of two players at opposite ends of their playing career. Arsene secured the signature of teenage Bolivian hotshot Samuel Galindo from Real America, and signed former Tottenham and Arsenal stalwart Sol Campbell to a short-term deal to bolster the numbers at the back. The Gunners boss has confirmed that Galindo will be immediately loaned out to another club, while Sol Campbell is not in the squad for tomorrow’s game.

The big freeze that slowed the UK to a standstill midweek may have cost the Gunners the chance to overtake Manchester United and close the gap on Chelsea, but Arsene Wengers men will be looking to keep the pressure on the top two when they host Everton at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon. A win for the Gunners will see them overtake Manchester United (at least momentarily) with the Reds facing Blackburn Rovers in the late kick-off today while Chelsea’s trip to Hull has been postponed.

Arsenal are given the chance to close the gap on their Premier League rivals this evening when they host embattled Bolton Wanderers in their “game in hand” at the Emirates Stadium. A win tonight against the lowly Trotters would see Arsenal move into second position, usurping Manchester United and placing them just one solitary point off first position.
