The Arsenal team bus will be northbound this morning as the Gunners make the mile journey to the City of Manchester Stadium to take on Manchester City. Mark Hughes City side was bolstered over the summer with a slew of high profile signings, including two former Arsenal stalwards in Emmanuel Adebayor and long-serving defender Kolo Toure.

Brazilian star Robinho is in doubt for the hosts after picking up an ankle injury on international duty. Roque Santa Cruz and Carlos Tevez are certain to miss out, meaning Adebayor will start up front. Vincent Kompany and midfielder Michael Johnson will also miss out via injury.

Arsenal will be without talismanic midfielder Andrey Arshavin after the Russian schemer succumbed to a groin problem during the international break. Samir Nasri and Johan Djourou remain sidelined with a broken leg each while Theo Walcott is yet to recover from the back injury that has prevented him from featuring at all this season.

Tomas Rosicky is finally eligible for selection after spending the best part of 2 years on the sidelines, while Cesc Fabregas has recovered from a hamstring injury. A 4-3-3 formation is most likely for the Gunners, meaning the starting lineup will look something like this:

Eduardo – van Persie – Bendtner
Denilson – Fabregas – Song
Clichy – Gallas – Vermaelen – Sagna
Almunia

BENCH: Mannone, Senderos, Gibbs, Diaby, Ramsey, Vela, Merida.

While the loss of Arshavin is a big blow, Arsenal still have enough firepower in that side to overcome Mark Hughes’ men. Emmanuel Adebayor will be desperate to score against his old side, and while that is a distinct possibility, there’s no reason why we can’t put four or five past Shay Given.

  5. i have sent this answer to city and teams like them you do not deserve to win anything before you play any other team like arsenal who have not bought their way to the top.
any stupid fool can be a muppet on a string and be controlled by the owner who spends easy money. you city and any team like you such as utd, chelsea, liverfool have just bought your way to the top, you do not deserve any cups you hold up above your heads as all you are doing as a team effort is lifting the rich mans wallet above your stupid heads. you all look so foolish in the eyes of any working class team and everyone of your fans should be disgusted with you. football has always been a very hard working class sport where people like arsene wenger dont need massive wallets to buy what they want, people like wenger achieve their goals by brains, dedication, loyality, and sheer hard work.
when arsenal lift the cup one can say as the team itself with wenger we deserve this trophy. WE EARNED IT.

  8. Great songs Robby!

  9. Man City 3 Arsenal 0
Man City has record in winning at home. Last season it beat Arsenal 3-0 home when it was weak. Now, it is strong. This season, it has not yet leaked any goal into its net.

  10. You see, I’ve well said. MAn City is the best at home. It has beaten Arsenal 4-2 at home. Arsenal is lucky to have leaked 2 goals into Man City’s net. City will be champions. The best defence up to now is MAn City. It is among the Big 2.
