Arsenal 1 (Diaby 72) – Liverpool 0
Match Report | Highlights
Manuel Amunia – You’ve got to give credit where credit is due, and although Almunia has been short of form in the past few months it didn’t show today. He dealt will with Liverpool’s crowding of the penalty area well, and made a fingertip save from Ryan Babel to keep us in the lead. Hopefully this will spark a turnaround in performance. 7
Emmanuel Eboue – Making his first start since before the African Cup of Nations, Eboue did pretty well today. Maxi Rodriguez was always going to be tough to handle but the Ivorian stepped up to the plate and coped well with the talented Argentinian. I felt he was lacking in the offensive department compared to what he’s normally capable of, but it was a commendable overall performance. 7
William Gallas – Massive, massive performance at the back today. Was strong in every tackle and showed great desire to win back the ball at all times. He made two vital tackles and absolutely no mistakes. Becoming Mr. Dependable at the back along with his partner. 8
Thomas Vermaelen – Solid once again. Gets along well with Gallas, and Vermaelen’s pace and aerial dominance complements the Frenchman perfectly. He was strong in the tackle and even stronger in the air, and completed another consistent performance. 7.5
Gael Clichy – Not sure it was a coincidence that most of Liverpool’s most promising attacks came down his flank. He did look a bit timid at the back and obviously devoid of confidence. It wasn’t a bad performance by any means, and he smartly kept it simple to minimise the chance of errors. 6
Cesc Fabregas – A bit off his game today. Really should have conceded a penalty when blocking Gerrard’s shot, but other than that was decent without being spectacular. He moved the ball around well in the midfield but lacked his usual flair. Worked hard though, and was by no means a liability. 6
Alex Song – Back to his lung-busting best in the centre of the park. Shielded the defence brilliantly and kept the ball moving at times. Swept up countless loose balls and got stuck into plenty of tackles, not to mention the fact that he kept Steven Gerrard in his pocket for the best part of ninety minutes. 7
Abou Diaby – Great game, and is definitely emerging as the best player to complement Cesc and Song. His passing was a bit off today, but other than that he was fantastic. Showed his usual drive and determination, and offered dynamism in midfield that we otherwise lacked at times. Thoroughly deserved his well-taken goal. 7.5
Samir Nasri – Difficult to comment on his performance today. Took a knock to the head early on and failed to get into the game at all after that. Subbing him off for Tomas Rosicky in the first half was a good decision. N/A.
Nicklas Bendtner -Decent. He did waste one big chance when he was denied by Reina but that is to be expected when you’ve been out for so long. Worked hard and his presence up front allowed us to hold up the ball for a change. Nice work in the lead-up to the goal, too. 6.5
Andrey Arshavin – Slowly finding form after some average displays, and looks much more comfortable out on the flank. Showed great movement off the ball and was menacing in and around the box. If he wasn’t taken off I felt he would have found the back of the net eventually. 7
SUBSTITUTES
Tomas Rosicky – 7
Theo Walcott – 6
Bacary Sagna – N/A.

Arsenal fans r too confident abt their baby guns..we saw dem destroyed…still more to see..cant even dream abt EPL…damnnnn…
Come on man! It was Song who kept on loosing the ball not Diaby. It is song’s passing that is off unless you were blind to that. And its clear to any one but you that Diaby’s perfomence deserved 8.5 rating because he was the difference that won us the match. Open your eyes man you will trully see.
Ngog is no striker, very clumsy and after all this time, so is Lucas.
The current Liverpool team sucks.
Brazilian football association has selected Lucas 4 next matches__they aren’t blind__and u r…
DID ANY OF YOU EVEN WATCH THE GAME? COZ ITS DONT SOUND LIKE YOU DID, YEAH FABREGAS DID HANDBALL FROM THE FREE KICK AT THE END, IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN A PEN OR IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN ANOTHER FREE KICK, BUT YOU TALK ABOUT HOW LUCKY WE GOT, UR TALKING SHIT, LIVERPOOL WERE ”’LUCKY”’ TO EVEN GET THE FREE KICK IN THE FIRST PLACE COZ GERRARD AND KUYT WERE BOTH DIVING AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE TO WIN THAT FREE KICK.
THEY HAD THE RUB OF THE GREEN ALL GAME, THEY GOT A CORNER WHEN SONG CLEARLY KEPT THE BALL FROM CROSSING THE LINE, THEN AT THE OTHER END DEGAN SHOULD HAVE CONCEDED A CORNER BUT THE REFF GAVE A THROW INN! SO DONT SIT THERE GIVING IT COZ UR TALKING SHIT, TWATS!!!!!
P.S LUCAS IS A VERY HARD WORKING INDUSTRIOUS MIDDFIELDER, HE MIGHT NOT SET THE WORLD ON FIRE BUT HES A DECENT PLAYER, ID HAVE HIM OVER DENILSON

Arsenal r down to earth n dats y we r movin forward….Now Have benadryl and hv a nice sleep k…(Lolzzzz)
BRAD is right – the handball was outside of the penalty area so would have only been another free kick. It’s unbelievable that everyone is only listening to the Liverpool spin on this.
Also, what about Gerrard’s 2 outrageous dives? Even the Liverpool supporters next to me were embarrassed (as we were about Eboue).
D game yesterday was gud__but Cesc was simply cultureless __ was wandering here and dere and wasting time__pushing away balls unwanted__not standard frm his kind of a player__and finally got booked__and at last ‘hand’ ling ball__cheating gunnn__not gonna success__DAMNNN____
Credit were it’s due, I guess, but apart from the save onto the bar there were dropped balls galore, scuffed kicks, goal kicks straight to
the opposition… He can stay til May then goodbye to bad rubbish!
What’s with the Luckypool (hoof the ball) fans and there rubbish about a penalty?!
Let me explain to you thick twats, who struggle even to spell, a penalty is given to a foul IN the area. Not outside it. That freekick was off ANOTHER Gerrard dive. As for the refs an Arsenal fan, you clearly didn’t watch the game as the ref was constantly giving YOU freekicks for nothing, and there must be a new rule regarding throw ins as he kept over ruling the linesman and giving YOU blatent Arsenal throws.
Stick to The Sun Says or your school chat room you retards!
Cmon you Gunners!!!!
i you think benter and arshavan had good games you must have watched a differant game to me they were very poor
What crap, I personally thought Clichy was the best player on the pitch, he won every single one on one challenge. Had his head to the ball every time he was asked and you rate Bendtner higher. Crap. Bendtner had a torrid game, was crap from start to finish aside from the accidental weak shot on goal and the reverse ball to Rosicky to set up the goal.
Fabregas was shocking, easily played the ball to Liverpool or had the ball easily taken from him about 4 or 5 times more than a successful pass. perhaps a second yellow and a suspension would have given him the time off he needs against Sunderland and us able to plonk Ramsey in and have a ready made replacement.
Is Song injured?
Hey , all of you .. I am liverpool fan , technic + luck = win for football .. I think liverpool should dak Torres na
